I think my rings and/or my pistons are shot (losing oil and smokes at full throttle) of course I have to do a compression and leakdown test to be sure.
The question is how high of compression pistons can I get away with. Idealy I would just swap the pistons with CTR or ITR pistons, I know that is really high static compression due to the B18C head but the JRSC really is not a high boost application 10psi max. I plan on getting a JRSC as soon as I get the swap running right.
Thank you in advance, this board is by far the most knowledgeable with the JRSC.

The CTR pistons will probably be too much... however, the ITR pistons (USDM) would be a good choice. This would net a compression ratio of about 11:1.

You are the man! do you know where I can get some reasonably priced USDM ITR pistons.

I keep both choices on the shelf. Give me a call at the shop.

not worried about the high-silicon content of OEM pistons making them too brittle for a high-cr boost situation?

I would be...
I always suggest aftermarket pistons for boosted applications.

Crap! The reason I wanted to go with OEM pistons is I read you can not use forged pistons with stock rods. I really don't want to pay $800-$900 for forged rods and pistons.

you can use stock rods with aftermarket pistons.
you just have bushings pressed into the little ends, so you can run free floating pins.
but the other question.... are your horsepower goals exceeding what stock rods are capable of?
